Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said that the knee issue that ruled Emile Smith Rowe out of his side's league cup game against West Ham United is a "big worry."

Arsenal confirmed that Smith Rowe, 23, would miss tonight's game due to a knee issue, after playing 74 minutes and providing an assist during the 5-0 victory over Sheffield United last Saturday.

The midfielder has struggled for game time this season, making eight appearances with two of them being starts.

Arteta told Sky Sports: “We’ve got an issue with him. He felt something in his knee and he started to feel some pain after the game and we are assessing it but yeah, a big worry with him.”
