Rebel Wilson named Sacha Baron Cohen as an ahole & Cohen responded

June 2024 · 4 minute read

Let me put this at the top of the post because I know people will bring it up: the Sussex Squad was very mad at Rebel Wilson last year because she described meeting Prince Harry and Meghan in Santa Barbara through a mutual friend. Rebel complimented Harry but said that Meghan is not “naturally warm” and that Rebel’s mother was asking Meghan all kinds of rude questions too. Rebel described the conversation on Watch What Happens Live and she knew exactly what she was doing. The Sussex Squad pulled out all of the receipts on Rebel, making sure that everyone knew every single time she publicly f–ked up or was a complete a–hole.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, Rebel has written a memoir called Rebel Rising. She’s been shilling for the book for months, and she’s been insinuating that she’ll name names about some of the douchebags she’s worked with. Well, she’s already named one name: Sacha Baron Cohen. And he’s hired some kind of crisis manager to shut down Rebel’s book.

Rebel Wilson is naming the person she refers to as an “a–hole” in her book. On Sunday night, the Pitch Perfect actress, 44, posted an Instagram Story that read, “I will not be bullied or silenced by high priced lawyers or PR crisis managers.”

“The ‘a–hole’ that I am talking about in ONE CHAPTER of my book is: Sacha Baron Cohen,” she added of the upcoming Rebel Rising: A Memoir. Wilson has said previously that she felt uncomfortable while making the 2016 film The Brothers Grimsby with Baron Cohen, 52.

A rep for Baron Cohen tells PEOPLE in a statement, “While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of The Brothers Grimsby.”

In a video shared on Instagram earlier this month, Wilson said there’s a chapter in which she names a man she previously worked with whom she considered a “massive a–hole.”

“When I first came to Hollywood,” the Australian actress and comedian began in the clip, “people were like, ‘Yeah, I have a no-a–holes policy that means, like, I don’t work with a–holes.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, I mean, that sounds sensible, logical.’ But then it really sunk in what they were meaning by that, older people in the industry. Because I worked with a massive a–hole, and, yeah, now I definitely have a no-a–holes policy chapter on said a–hole. It is chapter 23,” added Wilson. “That guy was a massive a–hole.”

Many long-time Rebel fans/watchers are already pointing out that Rebel has consistently referred to an unnamed actor/comedian who made at least one gross proposition, and that person was likely Cohen. I’m also not surprised that Cohen is already lawyering up and issuing statements – his brand of “comedy” is out of style these days, but back in the day, he thought he could get away with anything. Anyway, on this narrow issue, I believe Rebel Wilson.
