Quentin Jerome Tarantino is an American director, cinema critic, novelist, and actor who was born on March 27, 1963. His movies are known for their repeated allusions to popular culture and cinema genres, non-linear plots, grim comedy, stylized violence, lengthy conversation, widespread use of foul language, cameos, and ensemble casts. Other stylistic elements of his direction include the usage of music from the 1960s and 1970s, fictional brand parodies, and shots of naked women.
When the crime movie Reservoir Dogs was released in 1992, Tarantino began his career as an independent filmmaker. In 1994, he released Pulp Fiction, a darkly comic crime thriller that was well-received by critics and viewers. Pulp Fiction won multiple prizes, including the Palme d’Or and the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. He wrote the screenplay and acted in the 1996 film From Dusk to Dawn.
