Mercedes Martinez is an American professional wrestler who began competing in WWE‘s (World Wrestling Entertainment) NXT brand in January 2020 before which she had participated in several promotions such as Shimmer Women Athletes, World Xtreme Wrestling, Evolve Wrestling, Impact Championship Wrestling, Squared Circle Wrestling, Full Impact Pro, Women Superstars Uncensored, and Rise Wrestling. She has won the Alternative Wrestling Show (AWS) Heavyweight Championship, the Bellatrix World Championship, the Defiant Pro Wrestling (DPW) Women’s Championship, the IndyGurlz Australia Championship, the NWA Midwest Women’s Championship, the Pro Wrestling Unplugged Unified Women’s Championship, the Shimmer Women Athletes (SWA) Championship (twice), the Women Superstars Uncensored (WSU) Championship (thrice), the World Xtreme Wrestling (WXW) C4 Women’s Championship, the World Xtreme Wrestling Cruiserweight Championship, and the World Xtreme Wrestling Women’s Championship (5 times). Mercedes was athletically inclined during her school days but instead of wrestling, she used to compete in ball games such as basketball and softball. She had developed into an outstanding basketball player during her high school and college days.

It was only after she sustained an injury while playing that sport in college that she transitioned to professional wrestling. In her first major wrestling match, in November 2000, she had defeated a male wrestler who was nicknamed Juice.

She was ranked at number 2 in the 2011 PWI Female 50, an annual list of the best 50 female wrestlers in the world, published by the renowned Pro Wrestling Illustrated magazine. She regularly used to make the list in that era getting placed at number 11 in 2008, number 14 in 2009, number 3 in 2010, number 9 in 2012, number 10 in 2013, and number 22 in 2014. Having missed out on a place in the list in 2015 and 2016, she broke in again into the list in the subsequent years, getting ranked as number 11 in 2017, number 29 in 2018, and number 9 in 2019.

She was also ranked at number 10 in the ‘Top 10 Women’s Wrestlers of the Year’ list that was compiled by Sports Illustrated magazine in 2019.

Her signature and finishing moves include Bull Run, Surfboard Dragon Sleeper, Butterfly Lock, Three Amigas into Rope Hang Neckbreaker, Ace Crusher, and Half Nelson Wheelbarrow Driver.
