Lana Del Rey played the international festival circuit this summer, including Glastonbury, Outside Lands, and Lollapalooza. She had a snafu at Glastonbury where she was super late because she was getting her hair done. (I love Lana but everybody knows that only Mariah or Beyonce could get away with that, and Beyonce is too organized for her glam squad to run over.) Her shows were really well reviewed and you can tell that (Glastonbury aside) she had put real effort into making it a spectacle, with back up dancers and a swing that floats over the audience. She was supposed to be wrapping up touring in Mexico just a few days ago. But she surprised everyone with an announcement that she’s adding more US shows. They’re mostly throughout the South, unfortunately for us coastal elites.
Lana Del Rey is making an exciting announcement!
On Monday (August 21), it was confirmed that the 38-year-old performer will be embarking on a limited tour across North America.

I’m jealous of everyone in those places who gets to see her. When I saw her at the Hollywood Bowl it was one of the best live shows I’ve ever experienced. Lana’s fan base may be much smaller than Taylor Swift’s but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a similar meltdown from Ticketmaster when the tickets go on sale. Lana’s fan base is just as devoted and just as passionate (AKA bordering on unhinged), and it’s been four years since she had a proper tour in the US so there’s a lot of pent up demand. The geography of this tour being based mostly in the South is interesting, she’s been spending a lot of time there recently. A few weeks ago she was seen working a shift at a Waffle House in Alabama (????) and that got all the attention but she was also spotted at a recording studio in Alabama around the same time. Lana is always in the studio, it seems, which is something only a star of her caliber could afford–studio time is really really expensive these days. I don’t think she really takes breaks from recording–and there’s an extensive archive of hundreds of unreleased leaked songs to back up my suspicion. Maybe she stacked the tour dates so close together because she has another project in the works and she doesn’t want to be on the road for too long. I bet her next album will be titled something like “Smoking With Jim In The Waffle House Parking Lot Under Capricorn Next To Rte 565.”
