Howard Bragman, a well-known public relations consultant in Hollywood, is said to have died at the age of 66 after a battle with cancer. Mike Maimone, his lover, confirmed his death in a diary entry:

“The enormity of our collective loss cannot be overstated – Howard was a constant in so many of our lives, and the brightest light among his vast constellation of friends and family.”

Another source close to Bragman’s family confirmed the news in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. Bragman and his partner were supposed to attend a wedding in Mexico later this month, according to TMZ. He did, however, seek medical attention for what he thought was a gum infection and a mild fever.

Regrettably, medical reports revealed that he had cancer. Bragman was diagnosed with the “most severe type of leukemia,” which he described as “exploding.” On February 2, the public relations professional was hospitalized and died less than two weeks later.

He was most recently a spokesperson for Wendy Williams, a talk show host. Bragman’s reputation as a crisis management expert landed him a job as a news consultant for ABC News, as well as shows like Good Morning America, Today, and Larry King Life.

Bragman has assisted celebrities such as actress Meredith Baxter, athlete Sheryl Swoopes, and singer Chely Wright in their coming out processes as a Hollywood executive and supporter of LGBTQ+ issues. In 2021, Bragman donated $1 million to the Howard Bragman Coming Out Fund at the University of Michigan.
