Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is always looking for the next big thing. And lately, that includes where he lives.
In 2016, Musk paid $24.25 million to buy a new mansion in Los Angeles' Bel Air neighborhood, his fifth home in the area. That home is still being completed – in total, Musk has spent $72 million on real estate.
That amount could climb even higher as he finishes construction on his most recent purchase. Musk's main residence is a $17 million mansion beneath the Santa Monica Mountains that he acquired in 2012. That home covers 20,248 square feet and has plenty of cool features.
There are seven bedrooms, seven full and four half bathrooms, plus a full tennis court and pool. The castle-esque residence also includes a home gym, home theater, and of course, plenty of video games, which Musk says helps him unwind.
Musk was born in South Africa but has made Los Angeles his home. And if he can accomplish his SpaceX goals, his next stop will be colonizing Mars.
