Daniel Dale is a Canadian journalist and fact-checker. He worked for the Toronto Star, including as Washington bureau chief, and, as of 2019, appears on CNN, for whom he has also written his Facts First column. He has mostly covered mayor Rob Ford and U.S. President Donald Trump.

His maternal grandparents were Polish Jewish immigrants. His father is also of Polish Jewish descent. He was raised in the neighborhood Thornhill.

Daniel is married to Kelsey Shamburger, with whom he has one child.

Daniel’s paternal grandfather was Samuel Dale (the son of Moshe Morris/Moszek Dombrofsky and Bracha/Brucha Keshenberg). Moshe was born in Poland, the son of Yeshua Nathan Jona Dombrowski. Bracha was born in Łagów, Mazovia, Poland, the daughter of Israel Avraham Keshenberg.

Daniel’s paternal grandmother was named Tillie Moskowitz.

Daniel’s maternal grandfather was Joseph/Yosef Aryeh Erlich (the son of Hersh/Tzvi Baruch Erlich and Zlata Czarna Fink). Joseph was born in Grabowice, Poland, and spent World War II in Russia to avoid the Nazis. Hersh was the son of Mortre/Mordechai Aaron/Aharon David Erlich and Hena Sail. Zlata was the daughter of Joseph Leib Fink and Brucha Szterin.

Daniel’s maternal grandmother was Reizel/Raisel Bergstein (the daughter of Avraham Bergstein and Chana Chemnly). Reizel was born in Lukow, Poland. Chana was the daughter of Reuben Chemnly and Hinde.
