Advait Chandan is an Indian film director and screenwriter who started his career by working as 3rd assistant director in Reema Kagti‘s 2007 comedy-drama film titled Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. It was produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani and was Kagti’s directorial debut. Chandan then served as the assistant production manager for the critically acclaimed drama film, Taare Zameen Par, which became India’s official entry for the 2009 Academy Awards for “Best Foreign Film”.

He worked as casting director and post-production supervisor for Kiran Rao‘s debut venture Dhobi Ghat (released internationally as Mumbai Diaries and Bombay Diaries), a 2010 drama film that had its world premiere in September 2010 at the Toronto International Film Festival.
In 2017, Advait Chandan made his directorial debut with the Hindi-language musical drama film, Secret Superstar, whose lead cast included Zaira Wasim, Meher Vij, Raj Arjun, and Aamir Khan. Dealing with social issues including feminism, gender equality, and domestic violence, the film tells the coming-of-age story of a teenage girl who aspires to be a singer, uploading videos on YouTube while disguising her identity with a niqab, and her relationships with her mother, father, and mentor.
Secret Superstar became the highest-grossing 2017 Hindi film, the second-highest-grossing Hindi film of all time, and the third-highest-grossing Indian film of all time.
Advait Chandan has also worked as the director for the Hindi-language comedy-drama film, Laal Singh Chaddha, starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan. The film is an adaptation of the 1994 American film Forrest Gump.
